Global Mentor in Doctoral Education Award

INDEN presents the Global Mentor in Doctoral Education Award to recognize an individual for their excellence in mentoring international doctoral students. The Award will be presented at the INDEN Educational Conference and the recipient will receive a complimentary conference registration.

Nominations should reflect the extent to which the mentor has provided encouragement, support, and personal and professional development to yourself or others including faculty, colleagues, and students.

International in this context, means students, not from the country where the mentor resides. The Global Mentor award recognizes a scholar who has excelled at assisting others in achieving their career objectives through their continual support.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Current INDEN membership (become a member or renew your membership at https://indenglobal.org/membership)

  • Demonstrates qualities of excellence in mentoring international doctoral nursing students such as, but not limited to:

    • facilitates student learning and scholarship (i.e., publications, grants, development as a faculty member),

    • provides guidance and encouragement,

    • helps to set and meet professional goals

  • Serves as a role model in doctoral education in nursing and research

  • A current, or recent history of mentorship of doctoral nursing students

Submission Requirements

The application must include:

  1. A biography/narrative, not to exceed 2 double spaced pages in length, that explains how the candidate demonstrates the eligibility criteria

  2. Candidate’s most recent CV or Resume

  3. Letters of nomination should include concrete examples and information detailing the impact of the nominee’s mentorship efforts

    • Required: At least one letter of nomination from a former or current international doctoral student

    • Optional: Additional letter(s) from peers or colleagues

Application Deadline and Review:

Applications must be submitted below via the online system by 22 June 2022 by 12:00 PM Eastern Time.  Incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Award Presentation and Promotion

If selected the recipient must be available for an award ceremony during the INDEN conference to receive the award. The award recipient will have a few minutes to speak during the awards ceremony.  The conference registration fee will be waived for the recipient.
